Postdoc position for Educational Data Mining

The Scientific Inquiry Research Group (www.slinq.org), a research group headed up by Dr. Janice Gobert, is looking for a post-doctoral fellow,who will support the research, design, and development of computational techniques to analyze students’ log files for real time assessment and real time tutoring. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science and/or Learning Sciences and have experience in the design and implementation of Educational data mining, knowledge engineering, and statistical techniques for real time assessment and intelligent tutoring systems.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are to assist the project head in the following tasks:

- developing automated, computational techniques for performing real-time assessment and tutoring.

- designing and developing data mined models for assessment and real time tutoring.

- conducting research studies to test the effectiveness of the web-based learning system.

- Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must have Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Learning Science, or a related field.

- Must have demonstrable experience and deep understanding of Educational Data Mining techniques for assessment.

- Experience with the design and implementation of computational techniques to conduct real time assessment and real time tutoring.

- Excellent communication and management skills are essential in order to provide leadership to both the technical group and the research group.

- Strong time management skills are necessary to allow for simultaneous handling many concurrent projects and issues.
