Postdoc position at CEA LIST, Paris-Saclay, in Game Design and Model-Driven Development

The LISE lab (Laboratory for Model-Driven Engineering of Embedded Systems), which is part of CEA-LIST research laboratories in France (http://www-list.cea.fr/ [4]), has an open post-doctoral position for a creative and highly-motivated person that would enjoy working in the areas of gamification, game design and model-driven development (MDD). 

* JOB SUMMARY: 

The ideal candidate will join a research and development team to investigate and implement theory, tools and techniques for a new student-centered self-motivating pedagogy based on the use of gamification technologies to engage students and early MDD adopters. This work will take into account human motivators and happiness theory for people to have fun and to learn voluntarily to solve problems using MDD in non-leisure contexts. 

* WORKING CONTEXT: 

The CEA is the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission. Leader in research, development and innovation with its 16000 employees, CEA is active in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. Key figures include about 150 start-ups since 1984 in the innovative technologies sector, a 4,3 billion euros yearly budget and more than 530 EU projects obtained with CEA participation under the European FP7 since 2007. 

Inside CEA, the CEA LIST institute (710 researchers, located in the Paris-Saclay scientific cluster) focuses its research activities on developing innovative technologies for smart and complex systems. Its R&D programs focus on interactive systems (ambient intelligence), embedded systems (architecture, software and systems engineering), sensors and signal processing (industrial control systems, health, security and metrology). 

* QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

- PhD in software engineering, computer science or a closely related topic. 
- High motivation, self-learning and teamwork skills. 
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Knowledge of French is a plus but not mandatory). 
- Creativity to teach abstract and complex concepts and specialized technologies. 
- Knowledge of Eclipse IDE and Java language. 
- Knowledge of model-driven development technologies and languages (e.g., UML and https://eclipse.org/modeling/ [5]). 
- Experience in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) research is a plus. 
- Experience in designing and developing games, gamification strategies, and/or interactive web-based applications is a plus.
