The interdisciplinary GSIC-EMIC research group was founded in 1994 and is formed by 20 researchers (12 PhD) with Engineering, Computer Science and Education backgrounds. It has a long research experience on Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, Learning Design, Classroom Orchestration, educational application of Augmented Reality and Virtual Worlds, and socio-semantic educational systems, among others.

Project title: Integrated system for the design, enactment and monitoring of gamified and collaborative learning in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
Proposal objectives:
The project addresses the following research question: How can educators be supported in the design, enactment and monitoring of collaborative learning situations, in massive online settings, that incorporate gamification strategies? The ultimate goal is democratizing the production and delivery of MOOCs, as well as improving their quality and effectiveness, by increasing the motivation and participation of the learners and, thus, by decreasing the dropout rates.
Scientific Profile
The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, or Education and demonstrate research experience in one or several of the following Technology-Enhanced Learning fields: gamified learning, MOOCs, CSCL (Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning). Candidates must possess good command of both written and spoken English (Spanish is desirable but not compulsory).
Eligibility requirements
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree issued by an institution other than the University of Valladolid.
Alternatively, candidates with a Ph.D. degree issued by the University of Valladolid shall be eligible if they can provide written proof of having spent at least 24 months of postdoctoral research stays in other non Spanish institutions.
Salary and contract duration
The contract is expected to begin on October 1st and will last for 21 months. Salary will be of 30,000€ per year before taxes (around 23,000€ per year after taxes and Social Security deductions). The contract includes health coverage by the National Health System.
